Let me tell you the story of Alice. Alice felt like she was falling. Not down the rabbit hole, like in C.S. Lewis’ beloved children’s tale, but falling through her university degree, into realms of science she had never dreamed of before. Despite her love of all things scientific, she often felt dissuaded by the lack of representation and her own lack of experience.
In 2026, Alice created Hysteria, Logically as a way of encouraging other women in STEM. The aim was to increase visibility for both the struggles and triumphs that women face in the industry every day, and to encourage others to share their stories too.
“Let us choose for ourselves our path in life, and let us try to strew that path with flowers.”
– Émilie du Châtelet
This quote by renowned 18th century mathematician and physicist Émilie du Châtelet embodies what Hysteria, Logically represents. Women can achieve whatever they want, and they don’t need to conform to traditional standards to do this. It is about challenging antiquated notions and recognising that perhaps ‘hysteria’ and logic aren’t as far from each other as is to be believed.
